Accel Research Appoints Melanie VanDemark as Vice President of Medical Affairs

Accel Clinical Research today announced the appointment of Melanie VanDemark, M.D., FAAFP as Vice President of Medical Affairs. In this role, Dr. VanDemark will oversee conduct and provide medical guidance for all Accel Research Sites, located in Deland and Port Orange, Florida and Birmingham, Alabama.

All sites specialize in the conduct of Phase I-IV clinical trials to assess the safety and efficacy of promising investigational medicines and medical devices. As a principle investigator, Dr. VanDemark will also provide medical oversight of clinical studies at Avail Clinical Research, the company’s flagship site located in Deland, Florida.

She brings a wealth of expertise in clinical research from her tenure as an investigator and a deep understanding of the patient from her many years as a family physician and university student health medical director.”

In addition to serving as a principal investigator at Accel, Dr. VanDemark has worked as a family physician. Most recently, she worked for Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners. Previously, she was a family physician and owner of Deland Family Medicine.

Since 2008, Dr. VanDemark has held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. VanDemark has also been awarded the distinction of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. VanDemark earned her doctor of medicine degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. She received a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences and a minor degree in chemistry from Illinois State University.  Dr. VanDemark completed her residency at Halifax Family Medicine Residency Program in Florida where she was elected and served as Chief Resident.
